Our Town is Saved – April 9th, 2013

The whole town stood upon the high banks looking out at the raging sea approach their small town. They all had the same question and concern on their minds as to how would they be able to save their town. One part of the protection wall that had been built years ago had a hole in it and they wondered how to fill the hole in. While they stood thinking and watching a Mr. Sands came by with a load of sandbags in his truck. Stopping Mr. Sands all of the citizens began to grab one bag after another and began to fill up the hole. They had to work fast because the raging sea was getting closer. They finished just in time as the raging sea reached the town and the filled in hole kept the water back and the town was saved.

Heavenly Night Sleep – April 6th, 2013

Waking up in the recliner he wanted to turn over on his side, but having to sleep in the recliner made that impossible to do. He just could not get comfortable sleeping in the recliner. It was comfortable at first, but later in the night he could feel his muscles cramping up. He was not getting the sleep he needed and his work and social life were suffering. On a day off from work he began to look for a suitable bed. He only had so much money to spend and found a store that sold double beds that fit his size and fit his budget. Trying out the different mattresses he finally found the perfect bed, setting up a delivery time for that day, he was finally able to get a good night sleep.

Visting Edinburgh in Scotland – March 31st, 2013

If you are like me, you need a vacation. When looking through travel brochures, the city of Edinburgh caught my attention. Located in the heart of Scotland, the city of Edinburgh has many attractions sure to delight any traveler.

If you are planning a visit to Edinburgh, consider visiting from May to September. This is when the climate is the most comfortable. If fighting crowds is not your idea of fun, stay away from the city during the month of August. In August, the city celebrates many favorite festivals.

One of the most popular festivals is the Edinburgh Doors Open Day. During the festival, historic buildings are open to the public free of charge. Make sure to stop by Edinburgh Castle. This picturesque location is still in use today. Locating sleep accommodations is never a problem in Edinburgh. Edinburgh Premier Inn hotels are some of the nicest in the world.

Global warming really? – February 25th, 2013

My neighbors have been quite disruptive as of late. According to them they feel the effects of global warming? I remain skeptical. Sure the weather has been quite crazy as of late. Temperatures have been higher than normal and we keep seeing these “late” hurricanes coming about. My neighbor’s said that this week the temperature in the building had gone up drastically and that the meteorologists are in a conspiracy to give us the wrong temperature. According to a local news station, the weather was 42 degrees. Which is normal for this time of year. Yet my neighbors say they feel it’s 10 degrees or more higher. This was noticeably true since they were wearing T-shirts and shorts (yes they are retired). Green hoardings? Not sure. They invited me over to convince me and i did notice it was quite hot in there. After doing a quick glance at the thermostat, i noticed it was on the high end. After lowering it, within a few minutes the “global warming” level was greatly diminished. I was about to let them know what was going on and the old man said “you see the weather went down again…”. Sometimes people need something like Global warming to spice their sedentary lives. Weather it’s based on reality or not. Yes I used “weather” deliberately, bad humor, I know.

A Blogger Falls in Love – February 11th, 2013

I’m a blogger, so naturally, when I decided it was time to settle down with my true love, I began looking online. It’s my natural habitat, you know. I mean, people who live in Florida don’t start looking for their soul mates in Maine. Well, they don’t unless they’re looking online. My point is that since my natural habitat is online rather than at non-cyber social functions, I should find my best match here.

I started with a profile on one online dating site. After a couple months, I expanded to add a couple more. It’s been fun meeting potential partners. Digital dates rock, and I don’t have to get out of my house slippers to enjoy them.

Last month I fell in love. Unfortunately, we’re having trouble finding someone to perform a cyber wedding for us.

On The Prowl For Infomation – February 1st, 2013

My husband was being seen by a physician on a regular basis because he had overflow incontinence. Testing results finally came back to be an enlarge prostate and the doctor had to start treatment right away. He was probably going to have to go through a surgical procedure but we had to play it by ear with the doctor. He was given some medications to take and we had to pick up some male incontinence products at the local store.

We were new to all of this so we picked up some books to better inform him of this condition. There was also a lot of valuable information that we came across on the internet such as blogs, public forums and recent articles. We were able to read about the different types of treatments and surgical procedures.

A Mental Filter – January 11th, 2013

I am certain that we all have that one friend who can hear one thing yet it totally goes out the other ear. I would be happen to be the kind of friend that only hears partial sentences. I can’t help it, I would like to think of it as a mental filter. So, the other day my close friend who happened to go to the bar a couple of days ago told me that she saw bar stools that were shaped as gluteus maximus aka buttocks. Again because of my mental filter/poor listening skills I said “Bar What?, friend Rose says “Bar stool hun”, I am quick to apologize, she forgives me. I will admit now that I am a poor listener but somehow I am thinking of the buttock shaped bar stool my friend mentioned. I find it quite amusing someone would make a bar stool like that, the irony of it actually.

My friend’s new house – December 13th, 2012

My friend who happens to be moving in with his girlfriend decided that he wanted to help decorate his girlfriend’s house. I told him right away that this was a bad idea because girls will always want to have the control when it comes to decorating rooms. He was very adamant about how couples should work together and so he continued to make suggestions about the home. Most people will admit that it can be tough to decorate a home with a spouse and so I was really intrigued about what he was going to tell me the next few days. After just one sessions with his girlfriend, they automatically got into an argument about the blinds. I suggested that they buy shutters Manchester because they really are the best out there. After they finally realized that I was right, my friend knew that he would never try to help again.

Last New Home – November 15th, 2012

The day finally arrived when it was time to move our dear Grandma into her new home… a nursing home. We’ve dreaded this day so completely, really hoped it would never arrive, hoped she could stay with us and that we’d manage to look after her ourselves, forever. But alas, her needs had become far too great. Fortunately Grandma was rather excited when the big day came. After all, her husband of 54 years had spent the last 3 years of his life in the very same nursing home. That might have been 10 years ago and Grandma might be a bit scatty and forgetful, but she remembers her husband like he was here just yesterday. In a way I think spending her last days or years in the same nursing home comforts her somewhat, makes her feel closer to him.

And so with adult nappies, bibs and zimmer frame, we pack up the car, with Grannie too, and move her into her last new home.
